Corey Brooks O'Dell

Corey Brooks O’Dell – age 66, of Kentville, formerly of Centreville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville with his family by his side. Born on January 22, 1957 he was a son of the late Corey Brooks and Ruby (Taylor) O’Dell.

Corey worked as a lab technician for the Blanchard Fraser and Valley Regional Hospitals, before having to retire early due to illness. He was a former Scouts Canada leader and large supporter of scouting. He loved the outdoors, especially camping and beach combing. He liked to shop and keep up on the latest trends, styles and new fads. He was rarely idle, keeping busy working and building. He enjoyed travelling and going for drives, and had a passion for music. Corey was a very kind and generous man, and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

Corey is survived by his children, Corey Brooks (Lea) O’Dell, Christina (Joel) Parrish and Catherine O’Dell; sisters, Heather O’Dell (Bill Leighton) and Lorraine O’Dell; sister-in-law, Susan O’Dell; grandson, Arno Corey Brooks O’Dell; and chosen granddaughter, Ella Cashin. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lee (Spicer); brother, Carmen O’Dell; sister, Jill O’Dell; and sister-in-law, Lydia (Spicer) O’Dell.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks of appreciation to the VON nursing team, especially Sarah Kenney, as well as the staff of Kings Riverside Court and the doctors and nurses of Valley Regional Hospital Medical B Unit for the care and compassion given to Corey.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, followed by a reception. Pastor Chris Wickens officiating. For those unable to attend, a video webcast will be available. Interment will take place in Habitant Cemetery, Habitant at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice.
