Mary "Janette" Young
1926-2023
It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our mother and grandma, Mary "Janette" Young on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the age of 97. Born February 27, 1926 to parents Manus and Dora (Jones) Bower of Upper Ohio, NS.
Janette was predeceased by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, George. Besides her husband, Janette was predeceased by her loving granddaughter, Chrissy Flecknell; and her siblings, Eva, David, Mildred, Victor, Philip, Leslie, Russel, Ethel, Prince, Gerald, and Norman.
Janette’s family was her pride and joy; she will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children, Valerie Flecknell and Ian (Lourdes) Young; and her sister Ora Slade. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Geoff (Kelly), Rob (Sharon), Scott and Jennifer; great grandchildren, Karly, Anna, Jack, Morgan, Colton, Ava, and Ethan as well as many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the incredible staff of Shannex - Orchard Court Nursing Home for their many years of care and compassion for Janette and her family. Cremation has taken place under the care of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. A private family celebration will take place at a later date.
