Richard John "Dick" Walsh
1939-2023

Richard John "Dick" Walsh, Master Corporal Ret’d – age 83, of Kingston, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, March 25, 2023 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Bell Island, NFLD, he was a son of the late Richard and Clara (Roberts) Walsh.
Dick retired from the Royal Canadian Airforce as a Master Corporal. He was also a military piper for the Airforce. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also involved with Chalice, a program helping support children in which he sponsored several, currently; Jay-Ar and Sor-Judith.
Dick is survived by his children, Rick (Rebecca Gibson), London, ON; Sheila (Dean) Gallant, North Bay, ON; John, Sudbury, ON; and Pat, Calgary, AB; siblings, Mary, Bernetta, Edward, George, Patricia and Brian; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joy (Salsman); and siblings, Raymond, Andrew, Sebastian, Regina, James, Francis and Betty.
Visitation will be held in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30th with a Royal Canadian Legion Service starting at 6:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31st in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. Father John MacPherson officiating. For those unable to attend, a video webcast will be available online by Saturday, April 1st. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kentville.
