Eric Chesley Morine

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eric Chesley Morine on March 31, 2023 at the Heart of the Valley Care Home in Middleton, NS. He was 96 years of age. Eric was born May 20, 1926 to Roberta (Brechin) and Frederick Morine of Port Williams.

He married Dorothea Jewel (Porter) in 1948. He led a full life from farming to oil distributor, statistician, and was retired from Kings County School Maintenance.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jewel, in 2009; and his sisters, Muriel (Ivan) Reeves, Kathleen (Donald) Stocker and Phyllis (Alfred) Hartling. He is survived by children, Kenneth (Kathy), Cleveland, NS; Bonnie (Bob), Nictaux, NS and Gary (Marcia), Lower Sackville, NS; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Eric greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and old-style country music. He was a self-taught musician, able to play guitar, fiddle, mandolin, accordion, electric organ, and harmonica. He will be remembered for his fine wood working and his paintings.

Residing at the Heart of the Valley Care Home for seven years, a very special thank you goes to the staff, nurses and Dr. M. Saxon for their compassionate care.

Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023 in the Hillaton Cemetery, 1362 Saxon Street, Hillaton, followed by a reception from 1-3 p.m. in the St. John’s Anglican Church Hall located at the intersection of Highway 358 and Church Street, Port Williams. Donations in memory of Eric may be made to the Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Centre, Box 940 Middleton, NS B0S 1P0. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
