Wendell Lesley Upshaw

UPSHAW, Wendell Lesley – 63, of Kentville, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at home. Born in Windsor, he was the son of Dollie (States) Upshaw and the late Randolph Upshaw.

Over the years Wendell worked at various jobs including Palmeters Nursing Home, Greywood Builders Ltd. With his long-time friend, Stephen LeBlanc for 13 years and most recently Y.L. Holding Company.

In addition to his mother, Wendell is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Pleasant (Stephen Messom) and son, Wendell Jr. (Viola) Pleasant; grandchildren, Rionna, Jaylen, Sienna, Claudia, Jamal, Kylie and Willow; and great-granddaughter, Kacie; sisters, Carol, Palema, Geneva, Emeline (Chester), Audrey and Colleen; brothers, David, Randy, Kevin (Shay), Peter (Patti) and Darren (Mark); many nieces and nephews, several aunts and special friends, Wayne and Marguerite Sampson – who took Wendell in and loved him like their own.

He was predeceased by his father, Randolph; brother, Wayne; brother-in-law, Johnny; and nephew, Jody.

There will be no public visitation by request. The funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Reverend Glenn Gray officiating. For those unable to attend, a video webcast will be available. Reception will follow at the Kentville Lions Club immediately following the funeral service.
