Elizabeth Anne "Liz" (Taylor) Spencer

1961-2023

Elizabeth Anne "Liz" (Taylor) Spencer

With broken hearts, the family of Elizabeth Anne "Liz" (Taylor) Spencer, age 62, of Kentville, announces her passing on Sunday, April 30, 2023 in the QEII – V.G. Site, Halifax, after a brief but courageous battle with Myeloma. Born in Kentville, she was a daughter of the late Ronald and Clara "Joyce" (Peck) Taylor.

Liz was an exceptional mother to her three girls and stayed home with them to ensure they had the best care and support as they grew up. Once her girls were grown, she worked at Kentville Publishing, and in retail at Canadian Tire, Alia and Tanjay. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and her girls. She was always a welcome, safe place and was considered a ‘second mom’ to many. She found great joy in her grandchildren. Helping to look after them every chance she had, spoiling them, and supporting them in their many activities. Of all the roles she had, Nana was her favourite.

Liz will be deeply missed by her loving husband and partner of 47 years, Richard "Rick" Spencer; daughters, Melissa Spencer (Matt Turner), Port Williams; Megan (Robert) Shepherd, Black Rock; and Kaitlin Spencer (Andrew Harper), Kentville; siblings, Dana (Heather) Taylor, North Alton; and Ronda (Norman) Gee, Kentville; stepmother, Mary Taylor, Tupper Lake; grandchildren, Veda and Beckett Turner and Halle and Hunter Shepherd; great-niece, Emma Taylor, Wolfville; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Joy Taylor.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A celebration of Liz’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, followed by a reception in Meadowview Community Hall, Meadowview. For those unable to attend, a video webcast will be available at that time. A private family inurnment will take place in Elm Grove Columbarium, Steam Mill.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Myeloma Canada (1255 TransCanada Suit 160, Dorval, QC H9P 2V4) or the QEII Hematology Clinic (c/o Oncology Department, Suite 457C, Bethune Building, 1276 South Park Street, Halifax, NS B3H 2Y9).
