Reid Nelson Morris

Reid Nelson Morris, age 70 died peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, after a stoic and determined battle against pulmonary fibrosis, cause unknown. Born in Halifax on September 26, 1952, Reid had many fond memories of his childhood in Beaver Bank; always outdoors with his siblings and friends, trapping and fishing, playing cards with the neighbours, hitching wagon rides with Joe, listening to the men tell stories in the barn and best of all, walking by himself through the woods to Nanny’s.

Becoming the youngest Sobeys store manager ever at age 26, Reid loved his career in the grocery business, especially his staff and customers. Reid and Sandra (Ross) married in 1971 and made a home for their children with good friends and good food aplenty. Reid played and coached baseball and hockey. He ran marathons and loved working out at the gym, where he made many friends over the years. Going to the camp with friends and enjoying the outdoors were highlights of his life. Reid and Sharon met in 2005 and it was love at first sight. They could always be found sitting side by side on the dock at their little cottage, their happy place.

Reid was predeceased by his parents, Vivian (Peters) and James Allison, and brother (and best friend) Stephen. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Smith; children Bruce (Tracy) and Julie (Troy); step-children Mark, Nathan and Tessa; grandchildren Kyle (Kenedi) and Emily (Brandon); step-grandson, Cullen; great-grandsons, Walker and Waylon; sister, Carolyn (Wayne); brothers, Ronnie (Susan) and Ivan, and his nieces and nephews, his favourites all.

A no-fuss guy to the end, Reid requested that no services be held. Please remember him with a smile, a story, and maybe a beer.
