Malcolm Allison "Mac" Keddy

1943-2023

Malcolm Allison "Mac" Keddy

It is with heavy hearts but much relief that the family announces the passing of Malcolm Allison "Mac" Keddy, 79, of Grand Pre, Nova Scotia, who succumbed to his battle with Alzheimer’s on Friday, May 19, 2023.

Mac was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty (Bent) Keddy, whom he loved dearly. His 4 loving children: son, Chris (Karen) Keddy and daughters, Tanya (Dennis) Owen, Gina (Derek) Smiley and Amy Keddy; his loving grandchildren, Desiray (George) Church, Codi (Theresa) Keddy and Jayden Smiley. He is also survived by his brother, Owen (Debbie) Keddy and sister, Shirley McNeil.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, Myrna and Grant Keddy of Wolfville; and his sisters, Joanie Faulkner of B.C. and Mildred Haley of Hantsport.

Mac was a Master Carpenter and loved his trade. He was meticulous in his craft and was known for his attention to detail. He was known to be one of the best carpenters in the Valley and built many beautiful homes in the area that will remain as his legacy for years to come. Mac loved country music, and loved to sing - he had his own band for many years playing guitar and singing which brought him much joy.

He never stopped working, even after his long day of carpentry was done, he would spend his time taking care of the family home, making sure it had the most beautiful lawn and grounds in the area. He loved a project and you could always find him in his garage working away at the next home improvement.

Mac was a member of the Kentville congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. His faith was very important to him, and it gave him much comfort once diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He wanted others to know about what beautiful things we all could look forward to in a Kingdom under God's rule.

The family wants to thank everyone at Shannex - Orchard Court for the amazing care Mac received during his stay. The outstanding care meant the world to us. We wish we could name you all by name, you were all so supportive. You walked us through a difficult journey, and we appreciate you all so much and will be forever grateful. Thank you also to Dr. Targett for Mac's several years of care. Your kindness and patience didn't go unnoticed.
