Barbara Jane Feener

Barbara was born on July 23, 1953, in High River, Alberta. She was the daughter of the late Arnold R. Feener and Katherine (Scarborough) Feener.  Barbara attended school classes for special learners in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and in Regina, Saskatchewan. In 1965, she moved with her parents to Pictou, Nova Scotia. She attended the Truro Training School in Bible Hill for five years. In 1971, she moved with her parents to Yarmouth and later that same year became a resident at the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre in Waterville. She was in several group homes including Meteghan, Annapolis Royal, Berwick and Kentville, but returned to K.R.R.C. Barbara worked at the Flower Cart, New Minas from September 1991 to May 1998. She enjoyed bowling, dancing, going to movies and "sheen picking"- travelling back country roads by car and staying overnight at the Voyageur Motel in Yarmouth which was a special place for her. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her sister, Rosemary, of Wolfville.  Donations may be made in memory of Barb to the Apple Tree Foundation of the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre. A private interment will take place in Lower Horton Cemetery, Grande Pre, Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
