Walter David "Dave" Parker

1940-2023

Walter David "Dave" Parker Walter David "Dave" Parker

Walter David "Dave" Parker, age 83, of New Minas, NS, passed away in Shannex Blomidon Court in Greenwich, NS, on March 13, 2023.

David was the youngest son of William Nathanial "Nat" Parker and Opal (Swift) Parker. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Sonny Parker and daughter, Audrey Parker.

David is survived by sons, Michael Parker, Brian (Nancy) Parker and Owen Parker; brothers, Robert "Bob" (Lois) Parker, Herman "Hermie" (Marilyn) Parker and sister, Marnie Parker.

Raised in White Rock, David began work within the community as a young teenager at Clifford Long & Sons Wood Mill and then at the Hell's Gate Powerhouse. He would eventually head out West to Alberta, spending several years working in the hospitality industry where he learned about the bar and restaurant business.

Eventually, David would return home to Nova Scotia to help his parents build a house. He began work with Rex's Electric, before finally deciding to go into business for himself and created "Parker's Burner Service", providing furnace repair and sales.

David was an entertainer at heart, through and through. His outstanding ability on the guitar had him front and center. He was always playing somewhere whether it be a variety show, the Christmas Daddies Telethon, or a benefit show to help someone in need. He'll forever be remembered for his two most requested songs - "The Auctioneer" and "My Wife She's Gone and Left Me (The Laughing Song)".

Cremation has taken place with no visitation or service, as per his wishes. The family would like to sincerely thank the wonderful staff and doctors at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton, NS, who cared for David for about one year until November 2022, as well as his caretakers thereafter at Shannex in Greenwich. Arrangements were entrusted to White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.

You'll be fondly remembered, Dave. Cheers to you, "first one today!"
