Laurice Cecil Mitton

1952-2023

Laurice Cecil Mitton

Laurice Cecil Mitton, (70), of Butler Lake, Parkdale, Lunenburg County, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2023, in the Valley Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Dad was born to Cecil and Sara (Huntley) Mitton, on July 25, 1952, in Kentville. Dad had a long career as a truck driver. In 2016 he retired from Fundy Express and married his longtime life partner, Heather, who brought our two families together as one for more than 30 amazing years. Unfortunately, they were separated only four years after marriage when Heather’s brief battle with cancer ended, and he returned to the road that he loved so much. He was forced to retire again in the fall of 2022 to start his own cancer battle.

Dad is survived by his children, Andrew (Lisa) Mitton, Chris (Emily) Penny, Ian Penny, Kevin Penny, Kim Penny (Robert Cassidy), Giselle (Philip) Comeau; grandchildren, Ashton, Allie, Emma, Lawson, Vanessa and Presley; sisters, Judy Hartt (Edward Corbin), Heather (Randy) Schofield, Joy (Peter Cochrane) as well as many nieces and nephews that he loved so dearly. Besides Heather, Dad was predeceased by his sisters, Jeanette, Eva and Dawn as well as his parents, Cecil and Sara.

He will be missed by many that he spent time with from the lake to the highways. Dad had a love for community, whether giving back through his involvement with the Lions Club (Hantsport) or lending a hand around the lake. He always enjoyed being surrounded by family and good people.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. As per Dad’s wishes, a private celebration of dad’s life will be held at a later date. A very special thank you to Dr. Michael Keough and Dr. Lynne Harrigan for their wonderful care and support. Memorial donations may be made to the Valley Regional Hospital – Cancer Care for Patients Program or just a simple act of kindness to someone in your community. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
