Reginald Douglas Walsh

1942-2023

Reginald Douglas Walsh

Reginald Douglas "Reg" Walsh – 81, of Avonport, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. Born in Windsor, he was a son of the late Henry and Rita Walsh.

Reg worked for CKF Inc. in Hantsport for 40 years, retiring in 2001. Prior to his career with CKF he did construction work in Halifax for several years, where he honed his skills as a woodworker. He loved the outdoors, whether in the woods, on the water or in the garden. He was an avid fisherman and had several large wooden boats that he would take out on the Bay and enjoyed cutting wood and wood working. He was an exceptional gardener, and his gardens were always in immaculate condition. Reg played in several ball and bowling leagues and had his own farm years ago. He was a dedicated member of the ‘Old Farts Club’ in Avonport for many years, who met daily for coffee, chats and even a bit of mischief here and there. In his earlier years, he was a Cub leader and pulled Tug o’ War competitively. Reg was kindhearted, caring and kind, as well as a very hard and dedicated worker. Above all else, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many and will be dearly missed.

Reg is survived by his loving wife, Carol (Levy); son, Randy (Angela) Walsh, Coldbrook; sisters, Elaine (Pat) Burke, Alberta; and Audrey (Gus) Guzalin, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Hailey, Jennifer (Anthony), Janet and Jermaine; great-grandson, Jermaine; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Timothy Walsh, brother, Gerald Walsh; and granddaughter, Joyce, in infancy.
