Sherry Noreen (MacNeil) Malcolm

Sherry Noreen (MacNeil) Malcolm, 81, of New Minas, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2023 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville surrounded by family. Born in Point Tupper, she was a daughter of the late Charles "Benny" and Delina (LeBlanc) MacNeil.

Sherry loved to work and was still the active head housekeeper at the Slumber Inn, New Minas, where she has been working for 27 years, up until the days prior to her passing. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to old country music, morning tea and evening Smirnoff. Sherry’s family and friends were deeply important to her, she never missed a chance to celebrate their birthdays and events, and always had a special Facebook post for each one. She was well loved by everyone and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her husband, G.J "Jimmy" Malcolm; daughter, Pammie Andrews Tait, Sydney; son, Rick Tait (Pearl West), Coldbrook; stepsons, Stuart (Jill) Malcolm, Ottawa, ON; and Jimmy (Terry) Malcolm, Angus, ON; daughter-in-law, Karen Tait, Cold Lake, AB; siblings, Roddie (Irene) McNeil, Port Hawkesbury; Rose Kennedy, Stellarton; Carm MacIsaac, Pam (Hans) Baumhartner and Charmaine (Terry) Baltas, all of Port Hawkesbury; as well as numerous grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by son, Brad Tait; sister, Heather MacEachern; brothers, Murdock, Charles, Murray and Foster MacNeil.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. A public graveside service will be held in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 114 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023, followed by a reception in the Port Pub, 900 Windmill Road, Dartmouth. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
