John was an adoring Uncle (Uncle J) to many nieces and nephews and was always involved in many activities and adventures with them, including fishing, camping, white water rafting, skiing, as well as many family gatherings.
John's 24-year career as a Cartographer with the Niagara Escarpment Commission in Georgetown, Ontario saw him travel to many parts of the Niagara Escarpment throughout Ontario when completing mapping projects for the Commission.
John was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed many fishing trips to remote cabins in NW Ontario, paddled many rivers with family and friends and in his early days trained Gordon Setter dogs for hunting in competitive field trials. He was a valued friend, and neighbour and was always willing to lend a hand when necessary. He was a talented woodworker, a handyman extraordinaire and was a patient teacher with those around him.
He was a kind and gentle soul, who always had an affinity with people and animals alike.
