Sandra Deryl Horley

It is with love and sadness that the family of Sandra Deryl (Faulkner) Horley announce her passing on September 13, 2023 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.

Sandra was born and raised in Forest Home, Kings County. She moved to Halifax to work as a stenographer in the 60s and that is where she met her first husband, Charlie. Following his death, she and Gwyn lived in Halifax for a few years before returning to Forest Home to care for Sandra’s mother, Doris (Turner). They enjoyed skating, attending musical shows and were very active in the church. Following Gwyn’s death, she continued to be active in the ACW and prepared the Sunday coffee.

She was predeceased by her parents, James and Doris (Turner) Faulkner; her first husband, Charlie Horley; her companion of 25 years, Gwyn Phillips, many aunts and cousins; as well as her dear dog, Dixie.

Sandra is survived by her stepdaughter, Tara Phillips and grandchildren Abigael and Tristan Penney. She will be missed by many friends and parishioners at St. James Anglican in Kentville.

Visitation will be Monday, September 18th from 6-8 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19th in St. James Anglican Church, Kentville. Burial will take place the following day, Wednesday, in St. Mark’s Church Cemetery, Moose River, Cumberland County.

Donations in Sandra’s name may be sent to Kings County SPCA, St. James Anglican Church, Kentville or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
