Scott E. McLean

1922-2023

Scott E. McLean

Scott E. McLean, age 101 years, of Woodville, Kings County passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023 in Grand View Manor, Berwick with his wife, Ruth (Fredericks) by his side. Scott and Ruth have been residents of the Manor since 2020.

Born in Woodville, he was the son of the late Edward and Rita (Cogswell) McLean. Scott was born and raised on the family farm. He bought his first bulldozer in 1948 and owned and operated McLean’s Tractor Service, working for many farmers throughout the valley. It could be said he never officially retired. He was a veteran firefighter with the Waterville and District Fire Department. He was honored to receive a medal from Governor General, Adrienne Clarkson for his service. Scott loved camping, hunting and spending time in the woods. A man of few words but showed his love for his family in his actions and support at all times. He loved children and spent many hours and adventures with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many of their friends.

Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Ruth (Fredericks), Berwick; son, Murray McLean, Woodville; daughter, Joan McLean-Messenger (Burton), Centrelea; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jonathon McLean (sons, Theodore and Felix), Ottawa; Dennis McLean (daughters, Ellie and Gwen), Coldbrook; Beth (Luke) Crosby (daughters Sara and Emma), Woodville; nephew, Ronald (Barb) Dowding, Hubley. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ermie (George) Dowding; nephew, Larry (Cathy) Dowding, Head of St. Margaret’s Bay; and daughter-in-law, Mary Anne (Legge) McLean. Scott was very much a part of Ruth’s family throughout their life together. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Edith (Glanville) Travis, Canning; and brother-in-law, Irving (Connie) Fredericks, White’s Corner. Predeceased by his sisters-in-law, Clara (Dick) Coleman, Agnes (Harry) Morton, Jenny Moody; brothers-in-law, Nathan (Dora) Fredericks, Albert (Doreen) Fredericks.
