Wendy Marie Allison Hazelwood

1976-2023

Wendy Marie Allison Hazelwood

Wendy Marie Allison Hazelwood, daughter of Agnes (VanderHoning) and David Hazelwood, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the age of 47 in Valley Hospice, Kentville. It is in God’s mercy that Wendy peacefully slipped away, because of God’s timing and not man’s timing.

She was a generous, fun-loving, hard-working person. She loved children, especially babies and those in her family circle, including Sarah, Morgan, Kiera, Leah, Kloe, Tyler and Shelby. She played a big part in the lives of many of her friends’ kids. She loved visiting with people, swimming in the pool and putting her feet in the ocean. She was a Valley girl and never wanted to leave.

She especially enjoyed spending time with Lennon, River and Hendrik. Her cousin Sarah and her children, Morgan, Kiera, Leah and Khloe, and her cousin Ronnie all came to visit with her while she was in Hospice.

Over the years, Wendy worked at many different jobs, starting with babysitting for friends and in the church nursery. She worked at Masons and Avon Foods, and had many jobs in the service industry, such as hotels, restaurants and the store on the Cambridge Reservation. Wendy’s last job was with Safety First, where she worked her way up to having her own truck and her own crew, which she was very proud of. She loved her job and made many friends along the way, which was evident when many of her co-workers, including her boyfriend, Jerry, showed up at her 47th birthday party in the Valley Hospice, Kentville.

She is survived by her loving parents, Agnes and David Hazelwood; brothers, Nick (Kandace, Lennon, River and Hendrik), Zachary (Melissa and baby Amelia) and Nathan Cass (Miss Madison); birthparent, Greg Young and stepmother, Helen; devoted and loving boyfriend, Jerry Dalton and his parents, Leah and Roy Dalton, who thought of Wendy as a daughter; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her special cousin, Susan VanderHoning.

Dave and Agnes would like to thank their Church family at New Hope Wesleyan, Kentville, for the many visits and pastoral care we all received over the last 22 months.

Wendy’s loved ones would like to convey our deepest gratitude and thanks for the loving care by all of the Hospice staff. Not long after Wendy arrived at Hospice, she said "Mom, when I go, I want people to donate to Hospice". You may also donate to the Upper Room Food Bank, Kingston, where her Uncle Harley volunteered, and Wendy believed in.
