David Martin Cavanagh

1964-2023

David Martin Cavanagh

It is with heavy hearts but gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of David Martin Cavanagh of Forest Hill after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. David passed away November 17, 2023 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with his son, Tristan and best friend, Keith, holding his hands. He was 59.

David was born in Wolfville on November 12, 1964 to the late Kenneth Cavanagh and Truth (Kennie) Cavanagh, Wolfville.

David was a skilled tradesman starting out in the family business almost 40 years ago doing fibreglass and sheet metal work. Over the years he expanded into the construction and snow removal industry. He operated this business as the owner for many years. A highlight of his career was his involvement in the building of the K.C. Irving Centre. David was an avid hunter and enjoyed the time spent at the camp. David loved being a hockey dad. He spent many enjoyable hours in the rink watching his son Tristan. He made many lasting friends throughout these years. David had a big heart and was a good friend to many. He appreciated each and every visit and their time spent together. He will be sadly missed.

Leaving behind to mourn his loss are his son, Tristan and Tristan’s mom, Leslie (Williams) Cavanagh; best friend and hunting partner, Keith (Karen) McPhail; loyal friend and employee, Vince Martin, who was also like a brother to David and many close friends who supported him.

In keeping with David’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023 in the Gaspereau Cemetery, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Please bring your own chair if you wish to sit during the service. A special thank you is extended to the staff at VRH Med A; the VON - Annapolis Valley; and the palliative care team – especially new to the team, No 5. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
