Bruce Edward "Jake" Misner

Bruce Edward "Jake" Misner – 68, of Kentville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2023 after a lengthy illness. Born in Chipman Brook, he was a son of Joyce (Benjamin) Misner, of Berwick and the late George Misner.

Jake was raised in Chipman Brook with his grandparents, the late Florence and Lester Misner. Prior to returning to Nova Scotia for retirement, Jake lived in Red Deer, Alberta for many years, working on high pressure machinery pumps and hydraulics. He was very proud to hold his Red Seal as an autobody technician. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, biking for his whole life and participated in countless charity rides over the years. He was also President of the Bikers Rights Association in Alberta for several years. Jake loved his Harley Davidson and enjoyed going out on bike rides, stopping to fish at his favourite places. He loved movies, the blues and rock and roll. In his younger years, he was a lead singer in two local bands, Mace and Chain Light.

Jake is survived by his sons, Jordan, Justin and Jonah, all of Alberta; stepdaughters, Serilla (Richard) Gardner, Centreville; and Sara (Mark) Fraser, South Alton; stepson, Jason (Kellie) Hart, Halifax; grandchildren, Jacob, Emma, Azlyn, Gavin, Tyson, Gabriel and Oliver; sisters, Kathy Dixon, Carie Simpson and Julia Simpson; special aunt, Jean Reeves; life-long best friend, Brad Muise; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his father and grandparents, Jake was predeceased by his wife and love his life, Ding (Cavelle) Misner (2015); granddaughter, Blaise; brothers, Paul Misner and Leonard Penney; sister, Linda Atwood.

A special thank you to Jake’s Palliative Care and Hospice teams, especially Tara, for the excellent care and compassion he received.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service, by request. A  graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. All are welcome. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
