John Anderson Schofield

John Anderson Schofield

John Anderson Schofield was born in Kentville in 1950, the only son of the late Alvin and Evelyn Schofield. He passed peacefully on November 28, 2023 in Valley Regional Hospital at the age of 73. He attended Pereaux School and had great respect for Miss Bessie North who took him under her wings. He joined Bethany Memorial Baptist Church in Aldershot and was an active choir member and in the Men’s Fellowship. John was employed in the dietary section of Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital and retired from Valley Regional Hospital. He had some major health issues but managed to always keep going. For the last several years, he drove his wheelchair to downtown New Minas to spend time at Tim Hortons with friends and did his own shopping. He made this trip three times on many days. His health deteriorated in September. After several weeks in the hospital, he moved onto the next chapter of his life. He is survived by his dog, Izzy; brother-in-law, Leslie Anderson; sister-in-law, Mary (Kip) MacKenzie, and their children, Amanda and Matthew. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 30 years, Mable (Anderson); parents, Evelyn and Alvie Schofield; and sister, Henrietta (Bill) Silver. Thank you to the wonderful caregivers that looked after John, including the VON, Valley Regional Hospital staff, paramedics, and special friends, Garry Connolly and Larry Woodman. In keeping with John’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private interment will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the SPCA, War Amps, Children’s Wish Foundation or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line condolences and inquiries may be directed to
