Cassie May (Gough) Greene
1925-2023
It is with sadness, but with gratitude for her long life, the family of Cassie May (Gough) Greene, lifelong resident of White Rock, announce her peaceful passing in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, at the age of 98. Born in White Rock, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Annie (Lyman) Gough and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Prior to retirement, Cassie worked for ACA Poultry for many years. She was a former member of New Minas Seniors. Cassie was an avid Bingo player for years, and enjoyed playing card games. She faithfully read the Chronicle Herald each day and liked to chat on the phone with family and friends. She was an animal lover, especially her dogs.
Cassie is survived by her daughter, Doris Atwell; sons, Harry (Kathy) Greene, David Greene, Edward (Viola) Green and Robert Greene; grandchildren, Mary (Joe) Weir, Philip (Pam) Atwell, Paul (Kim) Atwell, Sherry Boutilier, Damen Greene and Jayna (MacKenzie) Green; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Melissa, Katlyn, Stacie, Samantha, Danielle, Norman, Sandy, Dylan, Megan, Gairett, Seaira, Deedra, Braydon and Kynlie; great-great grandchildren, Hunter, Raelyn, Gracelyn, Hannah, Owen and Lindsay; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Greene (February 8, 1988); son, Gordon Greene; daughters, Mary and Betty Greene; grandchildren, Matthew and Kalon Greene; son-in-law, Burton Atwell; half-brothers, Frank Palmer, Wylie (Marion) Gough, Charlie Gough, Garfield Gough and Bill (Mary) Barkhouse; and half-sisters, Flora Gough, Ethel (Leslie) Millett and Kathleen (Vernon) Dempsey.
Cassie’s family would like to thank Dr. Wadden, Dr. Targett, Chris Ivany, VON Homecare, nurses and caregivers at Evergreen Nursing Home, 2nd Floor East Wing, for the care and compassion provided to Cassie.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service (with a video webcast) will also be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20. Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Interment will follow in White Rock Cemetery, White Rock. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley VON, SPCA-Kings Branch or the White Rock Cemetery.
