Faye Georgina Spidle

1949-2024

Faye Georgina Spidle

With profound sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Faye Georgina Spidle, on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at home.

Faye was the daughter of the late John and Vida Atwell, of Forest Hill. She married Perry on June 23, 1972, and they chose to raise their family in Forest Hill. They were married for 43 years until Perry’s passing in 2016. Mom remained on the mountain after dad’s passing, with her faithful and loyal canine companion, Holly. They were great company to each other.

Faye was a dedicated wife and amazing stay at home mom. She treasured her children, and she gave the best hugs. She was an active volunteer when the kids were in school, as a chaperone for school trips, Grade 5 camp cook, and Pathfinder Leader. As a drama and choir parent, she never missed one of our performances. She was our number one fan. As her children grew up, she re-entered the working world, starting with picking apples with her best friends, Gladys Saltzman and Mildred Levy, for Bishop Farms. Other jobs included working at the Acadia University Library, Canard Poultry, housecleaning and as a care giver.

Faye was a wonderful host, who had a talent for being able to throw together a meal at a moment’s notice and made her company feel welcome. She loved her Saturday night card games with her dear friends, sending mail to loved ones to let them know she was thinking of them, shopping, and having tea parties. One of her favourite roles was being a Grammie. She loved spending time with her grandkids. She was a fun Grammie, making cookies and always interested to hear about their latest activities. They never left Grammie’s house without a full tummy and snacks for later.

She was the beloved mother of Lisa (Neil) McCorriston, Saskatoon; Ronda (Anthony) McEachern, Wolfville; Vida Mae (Jeff) Lantz, Scott’s Bay and Bill (Melissa), Gaspereau Mountain; proud grandmother of Carson McCorriston, Faythe and Phoebe Lantz, Riely Whitman, Connor and Colby Spidle; survived by brothers, Alfred (Mary) and Richard, all of Forest Hill; cherished best friend of, Mildred Levy and Gladys Saltzman; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
