Theodore George "Ted" Teal

Theodore George "Ted" Teal – 76, of New Minas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville with his wife Jean and daughter Kim by his side, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Freeman and Mary (Bennett) Teal.

Ted retired from Maritime Tel&Tel after 30 years of dedicated service and then started his dream job at the former Home Hardware in Wolfville, officially retiring in 2003. He loved his work, his loyal customers and enjoyed being able to help his community. He was heavily involved with the re-structuring of his local Parkinson Support Group, positively creating changes that are still reflected in the activity and growth of the group today. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing, camping and all things nature related. An animal lover, he always had one of his beloved dogs by his side.

Ted is survived by his loving wife, Jean (Moore); sons, Kevin (Cindy), Kingston; Andrew (Chantelle), Mill Section; and Steven (Anna), Welsford; daughters, Kim (Joel) Sheffield, Sunken Lake; and Keri Teal, Ontario; brother, Allen (Marilyn) Teal, Trenton, ON; sisters, Nora (Peter) Smith, Baddeck; and Marie (Jeff) Griffin, Port Williams; brother-in-law, Paul (Jacqui) Moore, Griffin, SK; sisters-in-law, Janet Moore, Kentville; and Joyce (Tom) Cann, Hantsport; grandchildren, Brandon (Brianna), Kaitlyn (Tyler and Kaden); Courtney, Tyler, Kayla (Nathaniel), Keelie, Matthew, Colin (Grace), Evan (Abby), Keegan and Lindsay; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Sharon (Salsman). 

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. The funeral service (with a video webcast) will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, with a reception to follow. Interment will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, at a later date.  

The family would like to thank Ted's VON respite team and the staff of Med B for the care they all gave to him.
