We closed the final chapter on the life of Pauline Eunice Patterson on March 19, 2024. She was a woman who found solace and joy in the pages of books.

Pauline was born on January 31, 1953, to Eunice Young and George Young in Steam Mill. She was the eldest of six children. She helped raise her siblings while their parents worked on the farm. She endured many ups and downs before settling down with her family on Lakewood Road, and eventually Long Beach Road.

Pauline or "Paul" worked at ACA Co-operative in New Minas alongside her husband Bronson and many friends. In their working days, she was in a dart league, played guitar with friends, and rode on the backseat of her husband’s Kawasaki 750 and snowmobile. She loved to fish and camp with her family.

Whether it was singing along to old country music, sketching or journaling, Pauline was a true artist at heart. She was known for her love of baking and cooking from scratch. Her many dogs were loving companions.

From her humble beginnings to her family homes, Pauline worked hard and did her best with what life threw at her. While Pauline did not openly express her feelings, we knew she loved us, and we loved her. Pauline will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her resilience and especially her baked bread.

Pauline is survived by Bronson, her husband of 33 years, and dog Scampy; and survived by three children, Crystal Rhyno, John (Jaime) Rhyno, and Shawn Young; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is also survived by her younger sister and best friend, Betty (Basil) Butler. Betty helped enrich Pauline’s life with daily phone calls, advice, paperwork and emotional support. She is further survived by sister, Mary Florence Trahon and brothers, Donnie Young and Joseph Young and was predeceased by Bobby Young.

The family also appreciates the support and kindness over the years from Jean and Barry Brown of Ottawa, and Bill and Linda Patterson of Halls Harbour.

At Bronson’s request, the family will hold a small celebration of life in Halls Harbour on Wednesday, March 27, by invitation only. Donations in memory may be made to the local SPCA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
