Gilbert Nathan Dominey

1941-2024

Gilbert Nathan Dominey Gilbert Nathan Dominey

Gilbert Nathan Dominey, 82, of Coldbrook, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 29, 2024, with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law by his side. Born in River John, Pictou County, on November 9, 1941, he was a son of the late Rubin and Mary (Cormier) Dominey. Following the death of his father, he was raised by his foster parents, the late Charles and Zelda Rafuse of East River, Lunenburg County.

He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 60 years, Bertha (Mailman); daughter, Elizabeth (Robb) Robinson, Coldbrook; sister, Margaret Jessome, New Glasgow; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, James, Cyril, Paul and Albert, and sisters, Jessie and Agnes.

Gilbert was a great mechanic and service manager for many years. In the early seventies he worked as a service manager for International Harvester Company, Burnside and for Halifax Chrysler Dodge. He moved to New Minas in 1987 and went to work as a service manager for Valley Truck & Trailer, Kentville. He loved to keep busy fixing anything with a motor or inventing new items. He would always help anyone stopped on the side of the road. He loved hunting, camping, driving stock cars and dancing, but most of all he enjoyed just being outside working in the yard and gardening, or taking a walk with his wife and daughter. He was a very devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and a great friend to many people. He will always be remembered and remain in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, Gilbert. We love you.
