Marjorie Lavenia Carty

Marjorie Lavenia Carty, 96, of Woodville, Kings County, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on October 21, 1927 in Woodville, she was the daughter of the late Brenton and Minnie (Lutz) Arnold.

In her early years, Marjorie worked at the BFM Hospital, Kentville. She was Oscar’s handyman, often running for parts. Marjorie did housekeeping for people and in the fall, picked apples for different farmers in the area. She enjoyed playing cards, darts, square dancing, knitting, going camping with close friends and attending musical jams.

She is survived by her children, Robie (Diane), Woodville; Sheila (Emery) Salsman, Upper Clements; Waldon (Brenda), Grafton, nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Oscar; two brothers, Boyd and Robert.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in the White Family Funeral Home, where the funeral service (with livestream), followed by reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024, Reverend Sheila Redden-Smith and Pastor Christina Bigelow officiating. A private family burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville. The family wish to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors and nurses at the Valley Regional Hospital as well as the Annapolis Valley VON for the kindness and care shown to Marjorie and her family. Also, a special thank you to Marjorie’s Mennonite friends and neighbours in the community who helped her out tremendously with their many acts of kindness. You have all made a difficult time, a little easier. Family flowers only, by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Berwick Trinity United Church or the Alzheimer’s Society.
