Charles Ivan Schofield

1936-2024

Charles Ivan Schofield

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Charles Ivan Schofield, 87, of Forest Hill, announces his passing at the Valley Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Born in Wolfville, he was a son of the late Vincent and Minnie (Tracey) Schofield.

Charles worked as a linesman with Nova Scotia Power until his retirement in 1991. After his retirement, he spent many years building up his hobby farm. He enjoyed hunting, endless rounds of cards with family and friends, and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maples Leafs, but you could most often find him working in his treasured garden – which provided produce for his family each year. He was a kind neighbour, a wonderful husband, an amazing father, and the most incredible Grampy.

Charles will be deeply missed by his wife of 67 years, Sylvia (Phillips); and their children, Donnie (Trudy), Lawrencetown, Halifax Co.; Darrell (Mora), Forest Hill Road; Glenda (Mike) Davidson, White Rock;  Gayle (Tim) Smith, Newtonville Road; Ricky (Shelley), Coldbrook; and Randy (Tammy), New Minas; as well as his brother, Wayne (Sandy) Schofield, White Rock; eleven beloved grandchildren and nine adored great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Blake, Vincent Jr. and Rodney Schofield; and sisters, Pauline Murray, Bertha Harris and Osie Harris.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A graveside service will take place at the Gaspereau Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of NS or the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
