Peter William Lepper

1944-2024

Peter William Lepper

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter William Lepper at home in Wolfville, Nova Scotia on April 11, 2024.

Born in Canterbury, Kent, UK in 1944, Peter was the son of the late Frank and Mildred Lepper of Bilting, UK. He is survived by Wendy, his wife of 55 years; his brother Alan (Esther) of Mexico; his sons John (Debra) of Saint John, NB and Robert (Colette) of Hortonville, NS; his grandchildren Amanda, Nicole, Thomas, and Noah; and great grandchild, Scarlett.

Peter was a machinist by trade. In 1964 he started work for Ashford Gauge & Tool, a machine shop affiliated with Weslake Engines. In 1966 thru 1968 he was involved with the development and construction of the engines that powered the Gurney-Weslake Eagle Formula 1 racer that won the 1967 Belgian Grand Prix and the Ford GT40 Mk1 that was victorious at Le Mans in 1968. Peter and Wendy immigrated to Canada in 1969 shortly after they were married. In 1971, he began a 33 year career with Michelin Tire that included work in all three Canadian plants as well as plants in France and the US. In the community, Peter was heavily involved in Scouts in both Scotsburn and Centreville, NS. He shared his love of camping and the outdoors through the Scouts for over 20 years.

Peter learned to downhill ski in 1985 and was immediately hooked. Over the next 37 years, his passion for the slopes include trips to notable ski resorts across North America as well as a 9 year stint in the Canadian Ski Patrol. To Peter, any skiing was good skiing with only the most challenging conditions described as "exciting" or, at worst, "interesting". Peter skied at least 3 times a week right up until his sudden illness in 2022.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of White Family Funeral Home. At his request there will not be a funeral service. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to Hope for Wildlife or a charity of your choice. Online condolences and inquiries may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com
