We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our family patriarch, Lawrence Burton "Larry" Eaton, age 85, of Kentville on April 16, 2024. Larry is predeceased by his parents, Beverley and Edria (Harvie) Eaton, as well as his brothers, Grant Lloyd, and Douglas. Larry, our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, is survived by his wife, Cathy (MacNeil) Eaton; son, Greg (Darlene) Eaton; daughters, Leslie (Jerry) McPherson, Tracy (Darrell) Mahaney, and Natalie (Dana) Buchanan; nine grandchildren, Justin Eaton, Caileigh McPherson (Mariel Quintero), Ryan McPherson, Matthew McPherson, Lisa Mahaney, Jessica Mahaney (Jason Adams), Olivia Mahaney (Brandon Silver), Lucas Buchanan, and Alicia Buchanan, as well as his five great-grandchildren, Elliott and Austin Eaton, Finnley and Fiona Adams, and Oliver Quin McPherson.

Larry served for over 10 years in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an electronic technician. After retiring from the Air Force, Larry took his extensive electronics knowledge and passed it on to students at Nova Scotia Community College in Halifax, where he taught electronics for over 25 years.

Larry was a very involved member of the Kentville community, he was a former member of the Kentville Town Council and served as Deputy Mayor. Larry was a District Deputy for the Knights of Columbus, a former Scout Master, and in recent years he served on the committee to form the Kentville Historic Society.

Sports played a large role in Larry’s life. He was an avid golfer and curler, and he was a member of the Ken-Wo Golf Club and past President of the Glooscap Curling Club. Larry spent many years coaching hockey, and in the last few years he played in the Senior Men’s League in Kentville and at Acadia.

The family wishes to thank the Palliative Care team, MAID team, VON staff, and the Valley Regional Hospital staff from the ER and Med B for the wonderful care and support they gave Larry and the family.

As per Larry’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
