Florence Marion "Flo" (Gordon) Cooper

1932-2024

Florence Marion "Flo" (Gordon) Cooper

Florence Marion "Flo" (Gordon) Cooper – 91, of Kentville, passed away surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at home. Born in River Hebert, Cumberland Co., she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Florence (Harrison) Gordon.

Flo will be deeply missed by her children, Michael (Marianne) Cooper and JoAnne (Sandy) VanBlarcom; brothers, Bob and Bill Gordon; brother-in-law, David Cooper; grandchildren, Aaron (Stacey) VanBlarcom, Ashley (Nick) Hill and Brennen (Hanny) Cooper; and great-grandchildren, Penny, Hank, Lucas, Preston, Lauren and Jack.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Robert "Jack" Cooper; brothers, Harley, Walter and James Gordon; and sisters, Agnes Gauvin and Murielle Fairweather; sisters-in-law, Jeannie and Judy, brother-in-law; Glen.

Flo was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother. In their younger years, Jack worked for Ultramar and it took them to many locations throughout the Maritimes. After settling in Kentville, Flo worked for Carousel Fashions and Ripley’s Shoe Store. Flo enjoyed curling and was always proud of her "8 ender", she loved to knit and was an exceptional baker, always sharing her passions with family, neighbors and friends. Flo loved going for drives with Jack, she was always the passenger, since he "never let her learn to drive", and many friends kept those drives going after he passed in 2007.

Flo’s favorite thing to do was spend time with her family whether it was holidays, birthdays, vacations or a simple Sunday supper (always with dessert), she always enjoyed this time together. She loved being with her close friends, going to concerts, birthday lunches or just catching up over tea.

Flo’s greatest joy was watching the family she and Jack created grow, to be loved by Nanny Flo was a one-of-a-kind feeling, and those who were lucky enough to experience it will miss it every day.

Special thank-you to Dr. David Nunn, and care support friends Geri and Pam.
