Marilyn Elizabeth Taylor

1940-2024

Marilyn Elizabeth Taylor

Marilyn Elizabeth Taylor, age 83, of Medford, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2024 at her residence at the Wolfville Elms. Born in Wolfville, she was the eighth daughter of the late Wilfred and Lulu Belle (Greene) Taylor.

Marilyn was well known for her creations of handmade fur teddy bears making their way as far away as Australia, providing families with heirloom keepsakes. She was a self-taught woodworker and painter. Marilyn loved to quilt and spent many evenings with her sisters creating meaningful quilts. She had a great sense of humour and enjoyed telling jokes and stories. Marilyn was a hardworking, independent woman. She spent her life in Medford working on the family farm. Her love of animals was great. It was common to find a box of ducklings or baby raccoons behind the wood stove or a calf in a play pen in the kitchen.

She is survived by sisters, Alice Fraser and Joyce (Roy) Lyons; brothers-in-law, William Milbury and Hugh Taylor, and many nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly. There are many fond memories held by the nieces and nephews spent with Marilyn at the family farm. She loved her dog, Maggie.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Archibald "Archie" Taylor; sisters, Greta Swindells, Wilda Spicer, Annie Winchester, Valerie Bigelow, Margaret Milbury, and Edna Taylor; brothers-in-law, Ivan, Bruce, Sonny, Sam and sister-in-law, Shirley. A very special thank you goes out to the Wolfville Elms that gave Marilyn wonderful, loving care for the past 14 months.

There will be no visitation, by request. A private family graveside service will take place in Medford Cemetery. All who knew and loved Marilyn are welcome to join the family for a reception to be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the Lloyd Memorial Centre, 29 Medford Road, Kingsport, NS.
