Sarah Lou "Sally" Haverstock

Sarah Lou "Sally" Haverstock (nee Dickie) – 88, of Kentville, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kingsport, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel (Rand) Dickie. Sally attended grade school in Kingsport and later attended Kings County Academy in Kentville, travelling on the "Blueberry Special" to and from school. She was a graduate of Mack Business College and had been employed with Imperial Oil until devoting her time to her three sons. She returned to work with MT&T in Kentville, retiring after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Glooscap Curling Club in Kentville and enjoyed golf and bowling. Sally watched most sports on TV and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. She appreciated the outdoors and loved her garden and her cat. Sally appreciated a good game of cards, especially Bridge and when family would visit, the house was often filled with laughter, over a good game of cards. She is survived by her husband, James B. "Jim"; three sons, Edward (Barbara, deceased), Vancouver; Joseph (Phyllis Anne), Kentville and Douglas (Melanie), Kentville; five grandchildren, Jake, Charlotte, Robin, Matthew and James; a brother, William Dickie (Denise), Cornwall, Ontario, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Dickie and a sister, Nancy Simpson. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
