C. Evangeline "Vange" Leslie

C. Evangeline "Vange" Leslie, of New Minas, passed away peacefully, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, on Saturday, June 8, 2024. She was 85.

Born in Hamilton, ON, Vange was one of three children to the late Howard and Ivy (Woolford) Connell.

Vange was an independent and career driven individual and made her career in the finance department of Nova Scotia Power. During her career, she studied at Saint Mary’s University and in retirement, owned and operated Evangeline’s Affordable Alternatives. She could be found during tax season doing taxes for community members, friends and family. Vange was ambitious in her pursuits, she was an accomplished cake decorator, seamstress and in retirement pursued her love of painting. Throughout her adult life she was an active community member and avid volunteer in her Church communities. Vange spent many cherished years in Marion Bridge, Cape Breton, where she was a dedicated member of the Bethel United Church. She held her friends and community there very close to her heart. Vange was known for her wittiness, making people laugh wherever she went and for the love and dedication to those around her. Once moving to New Minas, Vange was a member of Orchard Valley United Church, New Minas, where she served in many volunteer roles, including pastoral care and with the UCW and GWA.

She leaves to mourn, her son, Michael "Mike" (Elizabeth "Ellen"), Fort McMurray, AB; grandchildren, Melissa (Brant) Barnett, Canard and Leslie "Les" (Nicole) Connell, Enterprise, ON; Emma Connell, Toronto, ON; five great-grandchildren, Ada, Finlay, Fern, Macy and Logan, as well as her loved nieces, nephew and grandnephew.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by siblings, Ivy (Connell) McKay and Allen Connell.
