Ethel Phyllis Walker

Ethel Phyllis Walker

Ethel Phyllis Walker, 95, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024 in Silver’s Rest Home, where she had lived for the past seven years.

Ethel was the oldest daughter of 13 children of the late Avon and Phyllis (Brown) Miner of Grand Pre.

Ethel was involved in the food industry for many years as well as at home. She was especially known for her delicious pies, breads, cookies, fish chowder and homemade soups. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, playing Bingo, shopping at yard sales and listening to country music. She put on a family turkey dinner every Boxing Day which was a fantastic feast enjoyed by many.

She married Don Ward of New Minas and together they raised four daughters, Shirley, Dianne (deceased), Judy and Sheila. Following their divorce, she married Keith Walker (deceased). He was a cherished husband and stepfather and very kind to his grandchildren for many years. Ethel and Keith spent many happy years on Henry Street, Kentville. Ethel was very proud of her grandchildren, Tanya, Sarah, Nick, Alex, Candice (deceased) and Riley. She also had five great grandchildren, Madeline, Ben, Kate, Claire and Luke.
