Daniel Scott Leslie
1957-2024
Daniel Scott Leslie, aged 66, passed away on July 29, 2024, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the city where he was born on October 12th, 1957. He leaves behind a legacy marked by his unique sense of humor and generous spirit.
Daniel's working life covered a broad range of careers. He began Radio & TV Broadcasting in the Annapolis Valley and soon moved on to working in the steel industry in Pictou County where he joined the Kinsman Club and took great satisfaction from helping others. From this point forward his professional life was dedicated to public safety and security. After doing volunteer work as a Probation Officer, he began his career as a Correctional Officer at Kings County Correctional Center, where he was respected for his firm yet fair approach. Later, he transitioned to Stanfield International Airport, where he served as Security and Ground Transportation Manager before being promoted to Watch Commander, a role he held with distinction.
Throughout his working life, Dan gave back to his community through volunteer work at local fire departments, church groups, sporting events and countless youth leadership roles that brought him great joy and satisfaction.
Dan was always the first to stop at an accident scene on the highway to assist with traffic control, reassuring and calling for medical help for the injured and police/fire personnel to the scene.
Known for his sense of humor, Dan was often described as a joker who would give you the shirt off his back. His playful spirit was evident in his preference for loud and eye-catching shirts.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; his siblings, Barry (Celeste), Peter (Rick); his children, Christopher (Dezirah); Ashleen, Nicholas (Danielle) and his cherished grandchildren, Jocelyn and Lara. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eleanor and Clayton.
Daniel's life was a testament to the joy and laughter he brought to those around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
