William Bradley "Brad" White

1954-2025

William Bradley "Brad" White

William Bradley "Brad" White, age 70, of Grand Pre, passed away peacefully with family by his side in the Valley Regional Hospital on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Born in Berwick, he was a son of Shirley (Huntley) and the late William Hayes "Bill" White.

Brad was an entrepreneur for much of his life, designing, manufacturing and installing playground equipment for various facilities throughout Eastern Canada. He was a savvy proprietor at the helm of multiple businesses (Timbertec, Eastern Powder Coating and Ocean Playgrounds). His former years were spent based in Calgary, AB, working in the oil and gas industry where he travelled extensively around the northern regions of Canada and Ghana, Africa.

Growing up on the family farm in Welsford, he often spoke of his love of his grandparents Karl and Reta (Hayes) White. Many days were spent in the barns, woods and fields with Brad steering his siblings through adventures around the property, always in charge of operations. Brad was a born leader and in every circumstance he was "the boss", taking charge of building and creating his vision of what needed to be done.

Brad was known by many in the Wolfville area, having been a good friend and talented athlete during his high school years. A lover of music and gardening he spent his retirement years operating his beloved "Hobbit Hill" organic vegetable farm stand in Grand Pre. He took great pride in researching and implementing sustainable methods. His loyal customers often left him personalized notes of thanks for his products. An avid collector of art and sentimental items, he saved many treasures and amassed an impressive collection of W.R. McAskill photography.

Those who knew Brad appreciated his quiet demeanour and steadfast loyalty. Brad was a soft-hearted, kind soul. Despite his efforts to hide his caring manner (often with a gruff "Meh") we all knew he was a softy not so deep down! A natural innovator he was exceptionally handy and always had a vision or plan in the works. His daily musings and thoughts were consistently logged in his "books" documenting his daily life. Brad enjoyed small family gatherings where he could have lively discussions about various topics, give advice and tell stories over a glass (or several) of wine.

He is survived by his children, whom he loved dearly, Kelsey (Chris Coulthard) of Ontario, Megan (Jesse Kemp) of Berwick, Lucas (Christina) of Gaspereau, and their mother, Carol (Hiscock); grand children, Ryder Brown, Madeline Knowles and Hayes White; siblings Betty Jean Flieger, Cynthia White, Thomas (Katherine); cousins, Deborah Parrott and David Marsters; step mother, Shelia (Beards) White. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his aunt, Shirley Elizabeth "Betty" (Wade) Marsters.

Cremation has taken place and in keeping with Brad’s wishes there will be no visitation. A drop-in Celebration of his life will be held from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at The Wolfville Farmers Market.
