Carson Herrick
1946-2025
April 9, 1946 - May 6, 2025
Dearest Carson,
Your passion for the outdoors lives on in all of us, we are so very thankful for that. Your incredible stories from Camp Mazinaw spoke of your love for the outdoors, and those camp friendships remained. Your summers (1954-1967) at camp set the foundation for a passionate career in forestry, nurtured by Lakefield College and formalized by Lakehead University. We continue to pay tribute to the power of nature to respect and enjoy it for the rest of our lives.
We want to recognize and reminisce your exemplary contributions to the Alberta Camping Association from 1979-1988 in a leadership role, and with the Junior Forest Wardens for the decade following. Your knowledge in financial matters was a gift to many PTAs, showing your commitment to our daughters’ school years in many ways. Building the Cornwallis River Pathways Society allowed you to continue your passions in your retired years, giving generously to your local community. To honour your legacy, we will install a bench along the Cornwallis River Greenway so that others can pause and enjoy being in the woods.
Your light and love will always be shining in my heart and the hearts of our daughters and their partners, Kim (Arnaud) and Jenn (Matt) and their children, Julia, Jade, Ryder and Sage. You will continue to live on in the ways we move through the world with kindness. We are thankful for a lifetime in your strong protection as well as feeling safe in your gentle comforts. Your kindness and generosity has been mentioned by so many; you were a friend to strangers.
While we manage our tears, I hang on to hope that you and I will hold hands again,
Christine
