Annie Gertrude "Nan" Feltmate

Annie Gertrude "Nan" Feltmate – 91, of New Minas, NS passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Cooks Cove, Guysborough County, NS. She was a daughter of the late James and Hilda (Worth) Jarvis. Nan was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Normal College which led to her teaching career. She taught both full time and as a substitute teacher for several years while also becoming a mother to four boys. She was a member of the New Minas Baptist Church. Her faith was an unwavering focus of her life. Nan was active in many aspects of her church life, particularly music; she loved to sing gospel hymns. Her marriage of 66 years was another major focus for her. She and Harold lived in various locations including Montreal, Kentville, Guysborough and finally New Minas. The one constant of their lives was spending the summers at the cabin in Eight Island Lake, NS. Nan was a dedicated and loving wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her family and watching it grow to include many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her cooking and baking were legendary, and she loved having her family around the table. Nan loved knitting and she was very excited to knit items for each new grandchild or great grandchild. They have those items to remember her by. She was blessed with a positive attitude, a loving spirit and a beautiful smile. She was a friend and an inspiration to all who knew her. She is survived by her four sons, Grant, Timberlea; Darrell (Mary) Bible Hill; Byron, Eastern Passage; and Ian (Melanie), New Minas. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren; sister, Beatrice; brother, Alan (Gail); brother-in-law, Cecil. She is predeceased by two sisters, Carol and Lynn; one brother, James (Bus) and one great grandchild, Malachi. There will be no visitation by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at New Minas Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 28, 2025. Reverend Daniel Cormier officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Argyle Sunset Cemetery, Goshen. Donations in memory may be made to New Minas Baptist Church.
