George Robert Melvin

It is with profound love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of George Robert Melvin, a beloved husband, father, and family man. Surrounded by those who cherished him most, he left this world knowing he was deeply loved. George passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the age of 65.

Born on July 20, 1960, in Kentville, he was a son of the late Blake and Jessie "Myrna" (Wood) Melvin.

He was the heart of his home - steady, warm, and generous. His wife adored him beyond measure, and together they built a life filled with laughter, strength, and unwavering devotion. To his family, he was a source of comfort and wisdom, always ready with a kind word, a helping hand, or a gentle smile that could brighten even the hardest days.

He lived his life with humility and grace, finding joy in simple moments and giving love without hesitation. His presence made every gathering fuller, every celebration richer, and every ordinary day something special. Though our hearts ache with his absence, the love he poured into those around him will continue to guide and inspire us. His memory will live on in the stories we share, the lessons he taught, and the love that remains unbroken. We will miss him dearly, but we are forever grateful for the time we had and for the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.

George is lovingly survived by his wife, Cheryl (Gillis); mother-in-law, Marilyn Gillis; daughter, Stacie (Kevin Croft); son, Daniel (Lynn Leger); his cherished grandchildren, Hunter and Charlie, Upper Dyke; step-grandchildren, Vanessa and Evan, New Glasgow/Westville; sister; Ann Marie (Kevin) Morgan, Canning; brother, Dale (Barb), Sheffield Mills; sister-in-law, Joanne Gillis; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Gordon "Gordie" and Wayne Melvin and his father-in-law, Joesph Gillis.

George’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Canning Fire Department, EHS, the staff of the Emergency department at Valley Regional Hospital for their kindness and to Dr. Robert Gunn for all of the special care that has been given to him.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service, by request. There will be a celebration of life from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2026 in the Canning Fire Hall. Donations in memory may be made to The IWK Children’s Hospital. Aarrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
