Vina Gee

1946-2025

Vina Gee

Vina Gee, eldest daughter of the late Reginald and Catherine Moore of Steam Mill, NS, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville at the age of 79.

She was the devoted wife of Charles Gee, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Vina is remembered by her children, Kathy (Alex) Spencer, Dorothy Gee (Gary Robichaud), and Charlie (Trudy) Gee, all of Kentville.

Vina was a proud and devoted Nanny to her grandchildren, Scott and Shane Spencer, Nathan Gee, Tyler Parker, Landon and Grace Gee, and cherished great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Abigail, and Hayes. She is also survived by her siblings, Ellen, Margaret, Reggie, Frances, Stella, and Alice.

She was predeceased by her parents; her twin sisters, Jean and Joan; and her beloved grandsons, Ryan, Frank, and Andrew Gee, whose loss she carried deeply and often spoke of reuniting with one day.

Vina began her career at the former BFM Hospital in Kentville at just 15 years of age and dedicated 35 years of service to healthcare, later continuing at Valley Regional Hospital. Starting in housekeeping, she eventually became a supervisor, earning respect for her organization, fairness, and strong work ethic, always holding people accountable to their work. Vina believed any job worth doing should be done right the first time. She also participated in the hospital’s softball and bowling teams.

Vina and Charlie were married on July 5, 1969, at Bethany Memorial Church in Aldershot, officiated by Reverend Freeman Fenerty. They treasured his annual anniversary phone call each year, which he made even well into his 90s. Their marriage was a true partnership, showing their family love and loyalty. Charles stood faithfully at Vina’s side day by day, very much following through on their wedding vows made way back then. In recent years, Charles remained faithfully by Vina’s side, caring for her with patience, tenderness, and devotion. She truly hit the jackpot with him.

Vina and Charlie were blessed with eight grandsons and one granddaughter, all loved deeply. They called her "Nanny". Unfortunately, the family has suffered devasting losses of their first grandchild, Ryan, Frank in preterm, and Andrew as a young adult. She did always talk about being with them again someday. It gives us some peace knowing that they definitely were running towards their Nanny in Heaven.

Visitation will take place at from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Greg White officiating. For those unable to attend, a livestream of the service will be available. Interment will be held in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill.

Charlie and the family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to everyone who supported Vina over the past few years, through visits at home or in hospital, phone calls to check in, drives to Halifax after her surgery. Vina appreciated the care she received from Family First Medical in New Minas, Dr. Sabean, her family doctor, and the compassionate staff of Valley Regional Hospital’s Emergency Room, ICU, and Medical A and B units.
