David Colin Patrick "Dave" Sheehan

1962-2026

David Colin Patrick "Dave" Sheehan

The family of David Colin Patrick Sheehan, age 63, of Medford, announces with heavy hearts and gratitude for a life well lived, his peaceful passing at Valley Hospice in Kentville, Nova Scotia, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Donald and Elizabeth "Betty" (DeYoung) Sheehan.

Dave, as he was known to those around him, was a well-known member of the community, a loving husband, father, soccer coach, an active lover of the outdoors and a video producer by trade. He enjoyed skiing, camping, biking, drumming and traveling, and especially spending time with his family. David established the first video production studio at Acadia University in 1990 and became a founding member of the Acadia Institute for Teaching and Technology shortly thereafter. He was instrumental in creating and upholding the Valley Soccer League in the Annapolis Valley and spent many years coaching the younger generations with great success. Twenty years ago Dave was involved in one of the initial fundraisers for Valley Hospice with Alex Colville and Jim Perkins and he was grateful to be able to make use of the Hospice at the end.

In addition to his parents, Donald and Betty, Dave will be deeply missed by his wife Kelly (Davidson); their children, Dylan (Danette) Sheehan and Jessica (Hussein) Rafih; brothers, Stephen (Michelle) and Peter (Jennifer) Sheehan; grandchildren, Youseff, Nazzim and Niyah Rafih, and Finn, Pippa and Lucie Sheehan; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and many dear friends.

In keeping with Dave’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. As per Dave’s wishes a celebration of Dave’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026 in the Atlantic Theatre Festival.
