Dorothy Victoria Mahaney
1946-2026
Dorothy Victoria (Patterson) Mahaney, 80, formerly of North Alton, passed away in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Born on February 23, 1946 in East Walton, NS, she was a daughter of the late Les and Hazel (McLellan) Patterson.
Dorothy worked at Blueberry Acres and later at ACA Poultry where she retired from. Dorothy enjoyed attending music jams and volunteering with the North Alton Hall. She was a magnificent baker and pickled the best preserves and she enjoyed gardening in the warmer months.
Dorothy is survived by sons, Brian (Paula) and Barry (Elaine); grandchildren, Brad (Nicole), Melissa (Mike), Rebecca (Nick), Evan (Devin); step-grandchildren, Kevin (Megan), Kate (Josh), Cole (Iris); five great grandchildren; six great step-grandchildren; sisters, Debbie (Russell) McLellan and Denise Rudolph; brother-in law Stephen Rudolph; sister-in-law Marilyn McLellan; sister-in-law Linda Lonergan; sister-in-law Judy (Tom) Keddy; brother-in-law Bobby (Elsie) Mahaney; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gary "Wayne" Mahaney; brother Laurie (Judy) Patterson and brother Blair McLellan; brother-in-law George (Liz) Mahaney; brother-in-law Gerald (Judy) Mahaney; sister-in-law Joyce (Ralph) Esposito; and brother-in-law Laverne Lonergan.
An informal gathering will be held from 1-3 p.m. at the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville on Monday, March 30, 2026. A private graveside service will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to NS Lung Association or a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
