Gary Robert Stevens
1956-2026
Gary Robert Stevens, age 69, of Kentville, Nova Scotia, passed away on April 9, 2026. Born on December 13, 1956, in Wolfville, he was a son of the late Alfred Walsh, of Digby, and Peggy Stevens, of Wolfville.
Gary was known throughout the Annapolis Valley as a hardworking and dependable man – a true jack of all trades. Over the years, he worked as a roofer, handyman, and in the poultry industry with Eden Valley Poultry and Larsen’s, and also spent time in printing at the Advertiser. He took great pride in his work, often helping his brother Peter build homes and working on vehicles together. Gary was always ready to lend a hand, whether it was helping friends and neighbours with repairs, landscaping, or shoveling driveways. His generosity extended to local businesses as well, including helping keep walkways clear and safe during the winter months.
Outside of work, Gary found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved playing guitar and had a deep appreciation for music, especially rock, blues, and country. He enjoyed fishing – particularly with his brother Peter – and occasionally hunted. Gary was well-liked by all who knew him; he had a kind heart, a loyal spirit, and a great sense of humour. He loved sharing a laugh and was the kind of person people could always count on. His two cats, Buddy and Suzy, were also a cherished part of his life.
Gary shared a special and unbreakable bond with his daughter, Amanda, who was truly the pride and joy of his life. Together, they created countless cherished memories such as fishing, clam digging, and visiting places like Upper Clements Park, the fair, and Oaklawn Farm Zoo. From childhood through adulthood, Amanda always looked forward to their time together in the Valley. She carries on his love of music and describes herself as a "chip off the old block." To her, Gary was not only a father but a hero, and she will forever be his "little girl."
Gary will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, work ethic, and unwavering loyalty will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Amanda; as well as his brothers, Wayne Walsh and Peter Stevens.
