Shirley Marion Ward

Shirley Marion Ward - 92, of Brooklyn Corner, Kings County, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in South Alton, she was a daughter of the late William and Charlotte (Trahan) Corbett.

Shirley worked in the laundry department at Valley Regional Hospital, from where she retired. She enjoyed Bluegrass Jams, planting and walking amongst her gardens, and bird-watching at her bird feeders. Shirley’s award-winning apple pies were one of the main stars at the annual family Christmas dinners for which she was known for.

She is survived by her children, Lloyd (Faye) Ward, Wayne (Lucy) Ward, Mark Ward (Sandy Alexander), Marilyn (Ronald) Wescott, and Linda Ward (Steve Boudreau); grandchildren, Nicole Ward, Nicholas Newell, Virginia Chhatwal, Matthew Ward, Nadia Ward, Bronson Ward, Ryan Purchase, Savannah Ward; great grandchildren, Rebecca, Brianna, Miley, Chloe, Joshua, Bailey, Olivia, Grayson, and Maven; brothers, James (Kathy) Corbett and Eric Corbett.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Hazel (Hubert) Shaffer, Kathleen (Basil) Shaffer and a sister in infancy; brothers, Harold (Josie), Ronald, Harvey, Paul, Lawson and two brothers in infancy.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Interment will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill.

Donations in memory may be made to Hope for Wildlife. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
