Charlton Davison
1935-2026
September 24, 1935 – May 16, 2026
With broken hearts but gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Charlton Leslie Davison, age 90, announce his sudden yet peaceful passing on the evening of Saturday, May 16, at Evergreen Home for Special Care, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Greenfield, Kings County, NS to the late Alfred Otis Davison and the late Edith Jane (Schofield) Davison, he was one of 16 children.
Charlton was a well-known painting and drywall contractor who made many friends over the years. He was also a member of the Gaspereau Tug of War team in his younger years. He loved his vegetable gardens, his prized Bantam hens, the Morgan horses he had years ago, his Dodge trucks, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events up until four years ago. Above all, he loved his family and he would do anything for his wife, children and grandchildren.
For the last year of his life, he was a patient at Valley Regional Hospital then Evergreen Home for Special Care where he was able to connect with old friends and make many new ones.
Charlton is survived by his loving wife, Shirley (Wile) Davison and his adored children, Leslie (Phillip Brothers) Davison, Jane (Steve) Weir and Jeffery (Heather) Davison. He also leaves behind his precious grandchildren, Noah (Amber) and Ethan (Shayla) Brothers, Evan (Gabby) Weir, Taylor Davison and Kyle (Emily) Davison. He is also survived by his brothers, Chesley (Terry) Davison and Laurie (Sheila) Davison, sisters-in-law, Judy Davison and Gloria Davison, brother-in-law, Ealick Davison, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Bedford, Roscoe, Paul, Lawson, Leo, Kenny and Murray; and sisters, Dorothy MacInnes, Madeline Fitzgerald, Myrtle Davison, Pauline Davison, Marietta Spicer and Ruth Thomas.
The family would like to thank the staff at Valley Regional Hospital for the care Charlton received while there. We would also like to thank Dr. Mathew Targett and staff at Evergreen Home for Special Care for the exceptional care he received in the six short months he was there. Special thanks to Laura, Courtney, Kumar and Joel for the comfort and compassion they provided on his last day. God bless you all.
Charlton will be brought home to Greenfield for a graveside service in the Greenfield Cemetery on Friday, June 19 at 2:00 p.m. Greg White and Rev. Fran Woodside officiating. For those unable to attend, a video recording of the service will be available online by Saturday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the graveside service at the Gaspereau Community Hall.
