Lawrence Robert "Larry" Yockell

1946-2026

Lawrence Robert "Larry" Yockell

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Larry Yockell who died on June 9, 2026, at the age of 80, in Lunenburg, NS.

Larry was born in Welland, Ontario, to Albert and Emilene Yockell. He worked in the Industrial Supply business until 1982, then moved to Nova Scotia – initially in Petite Riviere, then to Bridgewater in 2007.

Larry was a Log Home builder, having built 50 to 60 homes in Nova Scotia, England, Ireland, and Scotland during his career.

He was a member of the British Automobile Touring Association of Nova Scotia. He had a shop near Bridgewater, NS, where he repaired these rare antique British vehicles. Larry was a mechanical whiz! He could fix just about anything!

He and Donna enjoyed planning road tours with the car club. Two notable ones were to the Gaspe Region in Quebec in 2016 (7 days, 17 cars) and to Cape Breton Island in 2017 (6 days, 29 cars).

Larry and Donna loved to travel, initially spending time in Florida – especially Panama City Beach – then taking longer vacations in England, France, Spain and Portugal. Their last trip was to Malta in 2025 (one month) which was one of the most interesting and enjoyable!

Larry is survived by his partner, Donna Sutton, Bridgewater; daughters, Deborah Calarco, Caledonia, Ontario and her children – Lauren and Tyler, and Brenda Fehler, Saskatchewan, and her children – Samantha and Ava; as well as his siblings, Daniel, Doris Miletich, Rita Wilkinson, Lorraine Sequin, Janet Clattenburg, and Bonnie Jowett.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date in Kentville, NS. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
