James Micheal "Jim" "Jimmy" Kennie
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of James "Jim" "Jimmy" Micheal Kennie on June 14, 2026. Jim was the eldest son of Gerald "Jake" Shirley and Elianor Kennie. His short battle with cancer is now over. He leaves behind his brother, Bruce, and his two beloved sons, Zak and Cody. While growing up alongside his younger brother, Bruce, they were moulded with unbeatable work ethic like their father and grandfather, Dalton. His uncle Mike, whom he admired, will miss him dearly. Jim had a very special friend from childhood, Mike Burgess. They had a special bond and shared many happy times playing hockey and baseball. When he stepped on the ice, he was described as small, swift, mean and mighty. This was needed when lacing up alongside his father in the suburban league with his best friend, Mike Burgess. Jim was a dedicated employee who worked at the Feed Mill, Sollio Agriculture Atlantic, formerly Co-op Atlantic, in New Minas for 30 years. In his spare time, he played hockey and in later years, refereed. He was a big fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and enjoyed watching them play with his dad ("Pup"). A public graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2026 in the Chipman Corner Cemetery, Kings County. Donations in memory of Jimmy may be made to a charity of one’s choice. The family wishes to express their thanks to the White Family Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
