Brian Daniel "Dan" Powell

Brian Daniel "Dan" Powell – 73, of Kentville, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. 

Dan was proud of his 40-year career as an Iron Worker. He was well known for his trade, working on major projects in Metro Halifax and Dartmouth. Through the years his career took him to Shelburne to build the Roseway Hospital, Fort McMurray, Muskrat Falls, 12 years in Saint John, NB, as well as in Texas and trips to Puerto Rico and Bermuda, leaving his mark at job sites along the way.

Dan was the husband of the late Betty (Brown) (Woodman) Powell (2014). He is survived by his faithful friend, Maureen Rodenhiser and his faithful cat, Holly. Left to mourn, his brother-in-law, Marc Platts and his adult children; niece, Mary Ellen; nephews, Robert and Matthew; cousins, Rosemary Barkhouse and Lynn Cates; Dan’s sister-in-law, Shirley MacNaughton and her son, Kevin MacNaughton and his family and her daughters, Lynn MacNaughton and Beth (Darrell) Hingley and their family. 

He will be met at heaven’s gate by his wife, Betty; his mother, Ramona; sister, Sharon; brother, Timmy; stepfather, Lou Barkhouse. 

Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service. A burial will take place at a later date with family in mind. Donations in memory can be made to any branch of the SPCA, Hope for Wildlife or the Salvation Army.
