Margaret Nora Bent

Margaret Nora Bent – 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026 in Kentville, NS. Born in Montreal, Quebec, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Whitman and Nora Boutilier, and raised by her grandmother, Blanche Ring Whitman in Beaver Harbour.

She was a caring and hardworking woman who dedicated much of her life to her family, her community, and helping others. She raised her own family in Waterville and was always willing to lend a hand to those around her, often caring for and supporting others as if they were her own. For 50 years, she made her home in Berwick, where she built many lasting friendships and touched the lives of countless people through her kindness and generosity.

Throughout her working years, she was employed at both the old Halifax Hospital and the Berwick Hospital, where she took pride in serving others. She also worked seasonally in the Annapolis Valley, picking berries and a variety of fruits and vegetables, embracing the strong work ethic that defined her life. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family who brought her endless joy and were the center of her world.

Margaret is survived by her children, Lawrence (Dale Stevens) of Greenwood, Nova Scotia; Ronald (Kelly Hagen DeWindt) of Okotoks, Alberta; Arthur of Bashaw, Alberta; Faye (Lloyd) Ward of Weston, Nova Scotia; Marilyn of Berwick, Nova Scotia; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
