Ronald H. MacDow

1949-2026

Ronald H. MacDow

Ronald H. MacDow of Lake George, NS passed away on June 23, 2026 with his two daughters by his side. The son of Zita "Connie" and Budd MacDow, Ron always spoke fondly of the Village of Port Williams, NS where he grew up with his sister, Beverly MacGillivray, and his late brother, Gregory MacDow. He and his beloved late wife Donna (Wilson) MacDow lived in Middle Sackville, where Ron completed his Machinist apprenticeship and then worked at the Halifax Dockyard for 35 years as a Planner Estimator. He later moved back to the place he loved most at Lake George with his devoted late partner, Janice Pawson.

An avid runner most of his life, Ron kept active well into his later years. When he wasn’t tending to his home or working on a project, he enjoyed cruising the lake in his boat, going for drives around the Valley with the top down, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family and the many dear friends he had throughout his life. He was well known for his sense of humour, his love of music, and having a positive joyful spirit. He was the person you could always call if you needed a helping hand.

Ron’s pride and joy were his two daughters, Zita and Raya MacDow, and his grandchildren, Pheida and Norah Delaney. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who showed unwavering love and support for his family and was always there to provide words of guidance and encouragement. There will be no funeral service as per his request, but Zita and Raya would like to pass along his reminder to not miss the sunsets, especially at Lake George, and to take a moment to pause and see the beauty that surrounds us. Ron will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support and invite you to send photos and special memories to [email protected]
